You very kindly assisted me with the caravans programme that DoubleBand Films produced for BBC4 (broadcast earlier this year).
I am now working on a BBC Four social history about camping! It will be similar in many respects to the caravan programme. We want to tell the story of camping in Britain from its earliest days, featuring interviews with people who are passionate campers and who can share their memories of camping through the years. We want to reflect the different styles of camping, from family groups on large commercial sites to 'wild' camping off the beaten track. Filming can take place anywhere around the UK.
I wonder if you may be able to assist me with finding contributors for the programme - characters who can share their memories of camping, ideally backed up by old family photographs or cine film.
Filming will commence at the end of August and continue through September/early October before the autumn weather kicks in. Our first shoot will be on the Bank Holiday weekend - either Sun 30th or Mon 31st August. On this day, it will specifically be in the south/south-east of England, ideally within an hour or two of Brighton where we are already going to be filming on another production. Again, your recommendations of people / campsites in this area would be very much appreciated.

As well as interviewees, we're also keen to track down old photographs and cine/film relating to camping.
